I have been seeing green lately...  Sea green - one of my favourite colours since forever.  Lucky me!  'Cause it's everywhere right now.  This hue has me working on some sea green inspired wardrobe posts.  In the meantime, I thought I'd share some lovely Anthropologie pieces.
And in other news - be sure to check back in March 1st for a look at the full & final cut of this video... I CANNOT wait to share this pretty lil' vid with ya'll!
Off to yoga with me...

London Fog & Mexican Spice

I spent Sunday afternoon doing a little experimenting in the kitchen... making soup and trying this Mexican Spiced Chocolate Chip cookie recipe from HERSHEY'S.  I substituted cloves for cayenne pepper and used margarine rather than butter - but any recipe with cinnamon and coffee granules in it has me instantly sold.  I definitely recommend giving this one a go, and hey, pair it with a cozy London Fog while you're at it.
As it turns out, cookies and I cannot coexist (as in, I will devour them) so a couple down the hatch and the rest were dispersed amongst other cookie monsters.
Hope everyone out there enjoyed the long weekend!

This cowgirl has had one eye on a constant watch for the perfect denim shirt for months.  I do love this J.Crew chambray, but there's something about this look that says it should be genuinely (gently) pre-loved denim.  Am I making excuses?  Ha.  Maybe I'm just enjoying the search party.
This outfit is just what this oddly warm February is calling for - throw a fisherman's sweater or a little military style jacket over top and you're layered up for the transition from not-such-a-cold winter to spring.  And.  Who can resist Frye boots?
That's what I thought.
Today is the first official day to my reading week - I'm going to make sure not to do any homework.  That should be easy since I seem to have managed to find myself a bit of flu to kick off the spring break - but I'm going to wake up 100% tomorrow.
(Stubbornness is a virtue, right?!)
Hope ya'll are having a great week,

I am stuck in a total winter rut.  I've been studying for midterms in geek-ware and leggings for days on end, the weather is cold but there's no snow and it is UGLY out there, the workouts have been lacklustre lately, and to top it off - coffee has been failing me (wha?  I know, I know).  I'm convinced I can beat the winter blah-blah-blahs though...
Here's my plan of attack:
-Get over the glasses + leggings thing.  Yes, I am a student, but just because most of my days are spent reading and researching does not mean I have to ignore the options lurking in my closet.  I'm thinking it would help to do a little online window shopping for spring goodies.  Perhaps a wardrobe post?
-Feel human.  Sometimes this takes effort, especially in the dead of winter.  So far I've got a hair appointment on the books for tomorrow and a pedi scheduled for the first day of reading week (gotta love cashing-in those Christmas gift cards).
-On the same tangent... I'm going to try a new class at the gym tonight - you know, mix it up a little with a yoga-pilates fusion class.
-Load-up on projects.  I'm thinking that the time between paper-writing and studying for tests needs to be packed with good fun for the next while.  So, aside from working on the project with my photo-shoot pics, this afternoon I also signed myself on to show some of my paintings closer to the end of the month.  This means finishing the half-complete number on the dining room table before month's end.  Nice.
-Switch to chai.  Whoa.  Only for a week or so, and just to see how it affects my energy level.  I'm not kidding myself, I'm sure I'll be crying for a latte before noon tomorrow.
If all this good doesn't help bring on the happy sighs, I dunno what will!
For now, time to hunker down and get into some research for the ole English papers...

It's a good thing this dress is sold, or this poor student would be forced to spend $697.03... Seriously, this is vintage perfection.  For now, I'll just hafta browse Free People's vintage section.
I've been struggling with balance the last couple of days - trying to find the right blend of friends, studying for midterms, exercise and time spent on this (BIG) unfinished project.  There is a clear winner for my time and affection though - after working out some technical issues, I'm happy to say this project is majorly distracting me from everything else.  So.  I'm bargaining with myself: 5 more minutes on the project then I swear it's back to studies... then a walk and a visit with a girlfriend...
(and *MAYBE* some more project time somewhere in there).
I'm hopeless.
Happy Saturday, indeed.

pieces & memories

For some reason January always feels infinitely long to me.  This January was a little longer and a lot harder than most, as my grandma passed away a couple of weeks ago.  There is a lot of sadness of course that comes with that, and missing her.  I am, however, also incredibly grateful for 28 years of moments with her... all of the hours spent following her around the garden, playing Scrabble after dinner and quietly reading together in her living room are precious memories to have.  I appreciate that many of my hobbies are informed by my time with her, and it's comforting to have those shared interests.  I'm also especially grateful for everything that Gramma did for her family and for the true kindness, grace and generosity that she showed to those around her.
The photos above are pieces from my grandma's house that now keep me company in my workspace while I plod away at homework, tackle unfinished Dove Tree projects and ponder post-grad plans...
There's a lot to look forward to.
(And hey, today's not so bad either).
So let's get goin' February!
