Half the summer break has passed by without more than a thought of posting an update, and I think that is JUST FINE.  So far, summer has been lazy and relaxing, but somehow still productive.  The first order of business for the holidays was to get my big ole house painted - top to bottom.  I decided to lighten the yellow on the siding, soften the white trim, paint the porch floors a lovely shade of grey, and change the accent colour on the door to a custom mixed mellow mint.  I love the way the combination of hues came out in the end.  The changes may be subtle, but it feels totally fresh, and was just enough of a change to make me appreciate the charm of this home all over again...

I'm livin' in my sweet spot.

Copious puddles and downpours didn't stop one little miss from celebrating her first year in style.  I had the pleasure of making a teenie tiny princess dress and crown for this royal 1st birthday bash.
Below are some pics from other contributors - flowers by my girl Megan of Megan Lynne Floral Design, and decor by Ashley Funk of Ashley Funk Decor (paper flowers above also by Ashley).  All in all, this was a party fit for a wee princess, her friends, and all her friends' parents too!
Happy 1st Dannilyn!

-- And a happy happy Canada Day to the rest of y'all! --

While the garden party has been relegated to the indoors so far, this hasn't in any way put a stop to the beginnings of this season's container gardening; nor has it hampered my affection for succulents.  I potted these beauties up this weekend - all a part of the green-flavoured shopping sprees I've been on lately.  Currently, my dining room looks like a greenhouse - succulents, ferns, and coleus - all awaiting warmer nights!
However, the rest of this soggy day is calling for a good book and a hot cup of tea…
perfect end to May Long.

Floral sneakers & watering can - Target
Book bag & drink dispenser - Indigo

A few of my favourite spring things - for what is sure to be a short & sweet fling of a season this year.  No time to waste, so this gal is breaking out the floral prints, garden gloves and pastels and digging on in…

Happy happy May Day!

My poor ma has had to celebrate her birthday in the shadow of Christmas for ____ years now, and I'm not convinced she'll ever warm up to the arrangement.  Barring any (rather unlikely) changes to the day Christmas is celebrated, I guess she'll just have to carry on sharing the season.
My sister, papa, and I are all committed to trying to divvy up her gifts so that Christmas is not too, too much more exciting than her birthday.  The pics above are of a shadow box Kimmy and I gave her this year.  An empty shadow box is a wee dull and uninspiring, so I started it off for her, in hopes that she will find some keepsakes of her own to display.
Meanwhile, having a big sigh over here for the last day of winter holidays, and at the same time, hoping for a bright start to a new year and looking forward to getting back into a routine (of sorts… because I am just not ever going to be that much of a scheduler ;)
C'mon 2014, let's get it started!

It's SO COLD here that there is literally nothing to do but pull up your socks and hibernate like a big ole bear.  Books, tea, and coziness on the couch for me.
Stay warm ya'll!

 Minty Green Vintage Stool

Pistachio Green Spindle Lamp

Chalkboard Green Storage Unit

Minty Green Vintage Lamp

Pistachio Green Urn Lamp

Most of my creative time in September was spent working on some DOVE TREE home decor projects.  Each of these dreamy pieces is up-cycled from vintage or unwanted housewares.  As with most of my clothing designs, my love for re-purposing vintage pieces extends to home furnishings as well... I couldn't think of a more fitting array of colours for this line than my favorite shades of green.

For more photos of these pieces, please visit my design portfolio page.

(Yes!! All of these pieces are available for purchase... contact me for details).
